The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger Regarding Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Backlash

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Service Background

The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
