From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
