Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
This represents the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
The player's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.
But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.
The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
