A group of ten convicted of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced charges of circulating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to making malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.

The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A longstanding false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.

Their complaint contends that Owens ignored any factual proof disproving her claim in favour of give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
